Message from the President of the republic of Finland

Culture is what we make it. Culture is the building block of our national identity and a vital component of the well-being of our society. Enjoying culture strengthens our mind and our ability to face challenges.

Culture can be radical or traditional. It can look beyond borders or be based on national traditions. Culture is present in our daily lives in many different forms, and the threshold for enjoying it need not be high. We can read books, go to concerts or visit museums. Listening to music or watching a film is also culture.

Culture has a lot to offer each and every one of us. Above all, it promotes well-being and positive thinking. I would like to encourage everyone in Tampere to find ways to make culture part of their daily lives. I hope that as many of us as possible will be inspired to take part in cultural activities.
