Students at Hatanpään lukio receive strong tools for further studies and life during their high school years. Hatanpään lukio Upper Secondary School emphasizes personal guidance. During their studies, on further study days, and through various projects, we aim to clarify and strengthen students' future plans and career choices.
Students at Hatanpään lukio learn better than upper secondary school students on average. We perform well annually in STT's upper secondary school comparisons. Our students are able to improve their performance compared to their final grades in basic education. Hatanpään lukio is a functional path to the academic world.
Hatanpään lukio provides a good foundation for the matriculation examination and enjoyable learning. The teaching takes into account functionality, experimentation, and the utilization of different learning styles and strategies. The teaching tools and methods are modern.

We are one of the smallest upper secondary schools in the city, but we offer a wide range of courses.
In general subjects, a variety of information technology is used, and students prepare for digital matriculation exams. Courses take students out of the classroom for visits to nearby and distant locations, such as Pyynikki, the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant, or Turku Castle.
We have excellent opportunities to participate in international activities. Hatanpään lukio Upper Secondary School is an Erasmus-accredited school, offering students better-than-average opportunities to go on school visits or exchanges in Europe. Students can travel with a group for a week or go alone as exchange students for a longer period. Hatanpään lukio hosts many foreign students and teachers. It is also possible to connect with other young people and schools remotely. At our upper secondary school, students can complete the "Skilled Global Citizen" online course or participate in cultural festivals. When traveling, the goal is to favor climate-friendly options. Currently, we have partner schools in Italy, Spain, and Germany, as well as closer to Finland in Denmark, Latvia, and Estonia.
In addition to international projects, some of our courses include travels abroad. The winter sports course is conducted as a skiing trip to Åre. Students in the special music education program take a performance trip to Europe in the spring of their second year, with the destination varying annually.
We are an Active Upper Secondary School. Following the lessons of the project initiated by the Finnish National Agency for Education, we implement an active upper secondary school routine. Everyday physical activity positively affects both well-being and learning outcomes. You can also diversify your studies by choosing physical education from a wide range of courses, from ball games to dance and hiking.
Our language course selection is extensive. You can study Spanish, French, and German, as well as Finnish as a second language. Our partners include Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Tampere University, Pirkanmaa Music Institute, and Tampere Conservatory.
In natural science courses, students explore scientific phenomena using a variety of technologies. In addition to experimental and student-centered work, interesting study visits and experts help connect knowledge to practical life.
