Lainasto exhibition in Laikku from 22 February to 30 March

In honor of Culture House Laikku’s 100th anniversary, the used-to-be library building hosts an unusual art exhibition called Lainasto. Anyone could suggest their favourite artwork for the exhibition and now a diverse collection has been selected, highlighting the significance of art and culture to all of us. Come and get to know the stories!

Tampere’s old main library building, now known as Culture House Laikku, turns 100 years old in 2025. As the anniversary approached, the idea emerged that the library would lend again – but this time, instead of books, it would lend visual art.

Anyone could suggest their favorite artwork hanging on their wall for the Lainasto art exhibition. The exhibition sought primarily works that are meaningful to their owners, not just financially valuable or by famous artists. The result is a delightful mix of art cherished by people of different ages and backgrounds, from both renowned and lesser-known artists. The artworks in the exhibition are as diverse as the stories of their owners, but they are united by the value their owners place on them.

The Lainasto exhibition is on display at Culture House Laikku (Keskustori 4) from 22 February to 30 March. Laikku is open Tue-Fri from 9 am to 8 pm and Sat-Sun from 10 am to 6 pm.

During the exhibition, two Art Karaoke events will be held on February 22 and March 8, where anyone can bring their favorite artwork and share its significance with the audience. Of course, you can also come to listen to the stories without the artwork!
