Tampere has a great rapids fishing location right in the city centre. During the summer season, rainbow trout are introduced into Tammerkoski Rapids once a month. In addition to rainbow trout, Tammerkoski Rapids also offers brown trout, fresh water trout and whitefish.
The Tammerkoski area has its own fishing regulations. The fishing area is marked on the Tammerkoski fishing map. Fishing is prohibited in the areas marked on the map between 1 September and 30 November. In the fishing area between the head of Tammerkoski Rapids and the Tampere hydroelectric dam (section 1 of the Fishing Decree)

fishing is permitted behind the rapids’ protective rail and on Mältinranta Beach

it is permitted to fish with a single fly or spinner

there is an area reserved for fly fishing (fly-fishing rod, fly-fishing reel and fly-fishing line) on the eastern bank of the rapids in the area of the Kehräsaari walking bridges; other kinds of casting is prohibited in this area

do not step on the illuminated ramps

all use of bait is forbidden

it is forbidden to hook fish from the outside

crayfishing is prohibited

the catch quota is two (2) salmon per day (excluding whitefish)

once your quota is full, you should stop fishing; it is not permitted to use someone else’s quota

holders of annual permits must fill in a catch form

brown trout with adipose fin removed: 50 cm throughout the entire Tammerkoski fishing area. NB! All brown trout that still has its adipose fin is fully protected by law
