Nekala Library opened on Monday 9 March
Nekala Library opened on Monday, 9 March, in the premises of the Nekala Cultural Centre. The library entrance is located at the Ahlmanintie end of the building (door C).
The library offers both staffed opening hours and self-service hours. Using the library during self-service hours requires registering as a self-service library user. For more information, see Self-service libraries.
From 9 March, Nekala Library can be selected as a pick-up location for reservations.

The Nekala Library opened on 9 March, 2026, in the new Nekala Cultural Centre. The building was previously used as a school. In addition to the library, the new cultural center will also house Nekalab and the Tampere Adult Education Centre.
The new library premises will have service opening hours, and the library will also have extensive self-service opening hours.
The library has its own entrance at the Ahlmanintie end of the cultural center (door C). The library operated in the same premises until 2018, when it moved to a portable container in the courtyard during the renovation of the building.
Nekala Library is a self-service library that you can also use outside regular opening hours. During broad self-service opening hours, you can open the doors of the library with a PIKI library card and its PIN code.
The library does not have any staff during self-service hours but you can loan and return materials through self-service machines, use a computer, read magazines and even work or hold meetings in the library's premises.
