Morning and afternoon activities at schools

Pupils in the first and second grades with for whom the activities are necessary due to their guardian’s work or study schedules or another particular reason may apply to the morning and afternoon activity clubs.

For school-provided activities, such a document should be delivered to the principal. A berth in the morning and/or afternoon activity clubs will be granted for one school year at a time.

Pupils in need of special support

All pupils deemed to be in need of special support may participate in morning and afternoon activities until the end of basic education. No fee will be collected for such activities for children and youth with developmental disabilities under the age of 16.

Afternoon activities take place on school days from noon to 5 pm. Morning activities take place as necessary and facilities are available from 8 am to 10 am. 

Starting from August 1st 2025, morning activities will end and only afternoon activities will be organized during the 2025-2026 school year from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

All activity clubs serve a snack for the children at about 2 pm.  

When school is not in session, the activities will be provided only for pupils in need of special support. In addition, the City of Tampere will provide summer club activities for all pupils in the first and second grade in June.

You may apply for a place in the morning and afternoon activity club as soon as it is known what school the child will attend.

Instructions for the guardian:

1. Enrol your child in school as soon as you know the day on which you move. Use this link to enrol in basic education.

3. Apply for a place in the morning and afternoon activity club for that school through Wilma. The form can be found in the “Applications and decisions” tab in Wilma. Go to Wilma here.

For the 2024-2025 school year, the private service providers for morning and afternoon activities are the Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Tampere and YMCA Tampere.
