TAMPERE, A WORLD-CLASS CITY OF CULTURE
Tampere is known for its distinctive local culture as well as its vivid and original sauna traditions. But almost secretly, it has become a city of international buzz among artists, musicians, architects, and Hollywood stars alike.
For the pleasure of Tampere citizens, actor Brad Pitt and rock star Nick Cave chose to exhibit their artwork publicly first time in their life at Sara Hildén Art Museum in Tampere in late 2022 and early 2023. Their premiere in visual arts took place in Thomas Houseago's exhibition WE with Nick Cave and Brad Pitt.
Hollywood made its first grand entry to Tampere in 2020, when Riley Stearns's Dual starring Aaron Paul and Karen Gillan became the first Hollywood movie fully filmed in Finland. And who knows, if Director David Fincher's visit to Sara Hildén exhibition would pave way for the next Hollywood production in the city.
In addition to arts and movies, world-class artists and bands such as Eric Clapton, Johnny Depp, Queen, Steve Vai, 50 Cent, Sting and Robbie Williams have all recently made their way to Tampere. Not least due to Nokia Arena, Europe’s leading and award-winning multipurpose venue designed by American architect Daniel Libeskind. Since its opening in late 2021, Nokia Arena has quickly become a mainstay of culture, sports and entertainment in Nordic countries.
And whenever a breather is needed from the beauty of all culture and entertainment, the amazing public saunas of the Sauna Capital of the World will calm your soul, mind, and body for new adventures in Tampere, a city of world-class culture!
