Wivi Lönn got private tuition because it wasn’t appropriate for the only female student to study with men. Lönn was the most talented student in her class. Soon she moved on to study at Helsinki Polytechnical Institute (later Technical University) by the recommendation of her teacher, architect Georg Shreck.
