Rules for using library customer computers
The library offers the possibility of using workstations free of charge. The purpose of these rules is to ensure that they are used in an undisturbed, responsible and respectful manner.
Workstations are defined as computers and related devices provided for customers' use, as well as other workstations provided for personal use, such as digitisation equipment.
For details of how to book an appointment at a workstation, please contact the staff or consult the library's website.
1. To ensure the comfort and peace of mind of all customers, the library may limit the use of customer workstations and booking of appointments.
2. The customers themselves are responsible for their own online transactions. The library is not responsible for any damage caused at the customer workstations. The use of customer workstations by minors is under the responsibility of their guardians.
3. The library is not liable for technical faults or damage caused by the actions of other users. Customers are responsible for their own files, for the confidentiality of their user IDs and other data, and for the equipment and storage media they have connected to workstations.
4. Access to customer workstations is only permitted with the customer's own library card or with a separate visitor or group ID provided by the staff.
5. Users of customer workstations must be considerate of other clients, provide peace of mind and respect privacy. Other customers must not cause disturbance by looking at, listening to, or displaying indecent, violent or offensive material at customer workstations.
6. Users of customer workstations agree to abide by the terms and conditions of use. Failure to comply with the conditions may result in a temporary ban from using the customer workstations.
Loss of access to the library
Library staff may order a disruptive customer to leave the library premises.
Failure to comply with the library terms and conditions may result in temporary suspension of access for a period of up to two months. Loss of access may involve either the lending right, the use of customer workstations or all library services, including access to the premises.
The library director will issue a ban in writing. In minor cases, the ban may also be issued orally by a member of the library staff.
The customer will be given the opportunity to be heard. The rules on loss of borrowing rights are set out separately in the PIKI Libraries' terms and conditions of use.
Responsibility and disclosure of information
In cases of criminal investigations, log data from workstations may be handed over to the police.
The customer is liable for any damage caused to the library's property.
