Principles for safer library space

The library belongs to everyone

• Everyone has the right to use the library feeling safe, as the person they are. Bullying, racism and discrimination do not belong in the library.

• We respect each other's integrity. We are considerate towards everyone. Together we create a comfortable and safe library.

We listen and learn

• Our conversation takes others respectively into account. We do not use offensive language. We can disagree constructively.

•  We can be mistaken and ask questions. We respect what a person tells about themselves.

The staff is here for you

• If something troubles or worries you, tell the staff. The staff will deal with any inappropriate behaviour and is responsible for the safety of the library.

These principles have been decided together with library customers. They apply to library customers, the library staff, as well as performers and participants in library events.

Equality means that all people are equal regardless of age, ethnicity, nationality, language and culture, religion, belief, opinion, political opinion, family background, gender identity, sexual orientation, health status, disability, social status, economic status, and other individual factors such as body size and neurological status.

Tampere City Library is committed to equality, accessibility and accessibility of facilities.
