• The application for summer work vouchers is ongoing from 1 April to 31 July 2025
• The employer offering a Summer Job Voucher position must be a company, organization, parish or foundation with a Finnish Y-ID.  
• One employer can offer up to six Summer Job Voucher positions
• A Summer Job Voucher cannot be granted for work carried out by the municipality or the state.

The form opens at the start of the application period, 1st of April 2025. You can apply for a Summer Job Voucher until 31st of July 2025.

Confirmation of a granted Summer Work Voucher is sent by e-mail to the summer worker and the employer within about a week of submitting the application.

• The employer fills out the payment application after the summer work has ended
• Attach a salary certificate and a signed work certificate to the application
• The application for payment is ongoing from 1st of July to 30th of September 2025
• The payment application must be submitted by 30th of September 2025. Applications received after this will not be processed
• The compensation to be paid to the employer is paid during October

In terms of payment, it is of primary importance that you have attached a salary certificate and a signed work certificate to the application. This way we can check the necessary information and the application can be moved forward in the process.

1. I haven't turned 15 yet. Can I apply for a Summer Job Voucher? You can apply for a Summer Job Voucher even if you are not yet 15 years old. However, you must turn 15 during the year of application.
    
2. I will turn 18 during the employment. Can I apply for a Summer Job Voucher? The applicant must be under 18 years of age throughout the summer job.
    
3. Can I apply for a Summer Job Voucher for more than one summer job? Each applicant is eligible for only one summer job voucher. This policy helps ensure that as many young summer workers as possible can benefit from the voucher.
    
4. I don't live in Tampere. Can I still get a Summer Job Voucher? Summer Job Voucher is for the youth from Tampere. If do not in Tampere, you are not eligible for the Summer Job Voucher. However, remember to check if your municipality offers similar opportunities.
    
5. The company I am applying for is not in Tampere. Can I still apply for a Summer Job Voucher?  Yes, you can apply. The company must have a Finnish business ID, but it can be located elsewhere.
    
6. Can I apply for a Summer Job Voucher for a company owned by my close relative? You can apply. The company must have a Finnish business ID and there needs to be an actual need for the job.
    
7. Can my employment contract be longer than the two weeks mentioned in the Summer Job Voucher? Yes. The summer employment related to the Summer Job Voucher must last at least two weeks, but it can also be divided into a longer period according to the working hours according to our terms and conditions (12–30 hours per week, maximum 6 hours per day).
    
8. Can the employment continue after the Summer Job Voucher? It is possible to continue summer work after the voucher-related period, if the employee and the employer so agree. However, a Summer Job Voucher cannot be granted again to the same youth.
    
9. I have already started the summer job. Can I still apply for a Summer Job Voucher? The summer Job Voucher must be applied for before the summer work starts, so unfortunately you cannot get a Summer Job Voucher.
    
10. As a private entrepreneur, can I use the Summer Job Voucher? Yes, if you, as a private entrepreneur, are hiring a youth for summer work.
     
11. I am a sole trader. Can I apply for a Summer Job Voucher for myself? A sole trader entrepreneur takes personal withdrawals of money instead of a salary, and thus is not eligible for the Summer Job Voucher. 12. I myself have a business name company, but I am not of legal 18 years of age. Can I hire a summer worker using the Summer Job Voucher? Acting as an employer requires legal capacity. A company is legally competent, but a young person is only fully when 18 years old. We also see the employment of a young person hired with a Summer Job Voucher as educational work, for which we expect the hirer to be of legal age.
     
13. Can a company applying for a Summer Job Voucher be an death estate? The death estate, which has a business ID number, has the opportunity to apply for a Summer Job Voucher. However, in death estates, we remind you precisely that all shareholders agree on hiring a young person, without forgetting other obligations related to the employer.
     
14. Can the company applying for a Summer Job Voucher be a housing association? The Housing company, or the so-called housing association, has a business ID. Hence, it can hire a young person with a Summer Job Voucher in accordance with the other conditions.
     
15. Can a Summer Job Voucher be used for volunteer work? If a private person offers the voluntary work, then no, because in that case the employee does not have a business ID. Voluntary work is usually also not paid, so it does not meet the employment requirements.
     
16. Can a young person get a job with a Summer Job Voucher through a personnel service company? Yes, in this case the personnel service company will apply for a voucher with the youth and manage their employment contract and salary payment.
     
17. Can the company have more than one young person working on a Summer Job Voucher? Yes. Companies have the opportunity to employ up to six young workers with the Summer Job Voucher.
     
18. As a light entrepreneur, can I apply for a Summer Job Voucher? If your light business service allows you to hire an employee and you have a Finnish business ID number, you can apply for a Summer Job Voucher.
     
19. What if I get sick during the summer employment? If, despite being sick, the employee has accumulated or can accumulate 10 paid working days, the Summer Job Voucher can be paid normally. If 10 working days are not fulfilled, it is recommended to postpone the summer work period. If 10 paid days are not met and the work period cannot be transferred, the Summer Job Voucher will have to be cancelled.
     
20. My summer job is cancelled. Can I give a Summer Job Voucher to my friend? The Summer Job voucher is personal and therefore cannot be transferred to another person. However, a canceled Summer Job Voucher is freed up for others to use according to the application order, so your friend can apply for a voucher as usual.
