How does the Summer Job Voucher work?

The Summer Job Voucher distributed by the City of Tampere is a financial support for employers to cover the costs of hiring a young summer worker. The Summer Job Voucher helps young Tampere residents born between 2007 and 2010 find their first summer jobs. The young person must be under 18 years old for the entire duration of the summer employment. This year, we are starting with 400 Summer Job Vouchers.

  1. The summer job hopeful and the employer agree on the summer job.
  2. The young worker and the employer fill out the Summer Job Voucher application together.
  3. After the Summer Job Voucher is granted, the summer jobber works during the summer and receives a salary.
  4. The employer applies for the €320 compensation from the Summer Job Voucher after the summer job is completed.

Terms of Summer Job Voucher and employment

  1. Age and Residence:
    • The summer employee must be a resident of Tampere and born between 2007 and 2010.
    • They must be under 18 years old for the entire duration of the employment.
  2. Eligibility for the Summer Job Voucher:
    • The youth cannot receive the Summer Job Voucher if they have already received a summer job or internship position from the City of Tampere.
    • A summer employee can be granted one voucher per summer. One person can receive the voucher for three different summers.
  3. Duration of Employment and Working Hours:
    • The employment must last at least two weeks.
    • Weekly working hours must be between 12 and 30 hours, with a maximum of 6 hours per day.
    • The summer job must take place between May 1 and August 31, 2025.
  4. Applying for the Summer Job Voucher:
    • The Summer Job Voucher must be applied for before the start of the summer work.
    • Applications for the Summer Job Vouchers are open from April 1 to July 31, 2025.
  5. Salary:
    • The summer job must pay according to the collective agreement, with a minimum of 400 euros, including holiday compensation.
    • Separate compensations or allowances cannot be included in the base salary but must be paid in addition and itemized in the payslip.
    • The city will reimburse the employer 320 euros of the salary paid to the employee.
  6. Employer Conditions:
    • The employer can hire up to 6 youths with the Summer Job Voucher.
    • The Summer Job Voucher is not applicable for work with the municipality or the state.
