The city is offering a total of about 230 summer jobs and traineeships for the coming summer. Early childhood education and care as well as sports and culture services have the largest number of open positions. Other interesting positions are offered by urban environment services, employment and growth services and administrative services in different units of the organisation.
The total number of summer jobs offered by the City of Tampere is smaller than last year, but the number of traineeships for people under the age of 18 is slightly higher than it was.
The city is hiring students and professionals in the field as annual holiday substitutes and offering internships for students. There are also positions that do not require prior experience or education.
Application for summer jobs ends on 18 February, and on 15 March for summer traineeships for young people aged 15-17. The application period for summer traineeships for young people has been extended for the coming summer, especially at the request of young people.
The aim is to make the selections by the end of March, and those selected for the jobs will be personally notified. All applicants are sent e-mails on the receipt of the application, the end of the application period and the on selection once a suitable applicant has been found for the position.
The job descriptions and application forms for summer jobs and summer traineeships can be found in the Kuntarekry from 22 January 2024 onward. Direct links to jobs can be found on the city's website

The City of Tampere supports young people's summer employment in many ways
Summer traineeships in the Tutustu työelämään ja tienaa (‘Get to know working life and earn’) programme: Tampere residents aged 15–17 are offered 130 'Get to know working life and earn' summer traineeships of either one or two weeks. In autumn 2023, the city asked ninth-graders during the Vaikuta! event organised by youth services what kind of summer jobs young people would like. The city was able to fulfil the wishes expressed by young people and offer traineeships in customer service and sales work, children’s guidance and physical activities and café work. These positions are organised by youth services, early childhood education and care and physical activity services.
An effort will be made to fill the positions by the end of March. All applicants will be informed of the selections by email. The city hopes that young people will remember to monitor their email after the application period comes to an end.
- Summer job voucher: Young people in Tampere aged 15–17 can apply for the City of Tampere’s summer job voucher. The city will give out around 250 vouchers, and they will each be worth EUR 320. The voucher makes it easier for young people to find employment in companies, associations and clubs.
- Summer entrepreneurship voucher: The city encourages summer entrepreneurship together with the local network of entrepreneurs. Kesäyrittäjyys (‘Summer Entrepreneurship’) campaign will begin in February, and more information on the application process will be given at that time.
- The Kesäduuni 2024 (‘Summer Jobs 2024’) campaign of the city's employment services brings 17–30-year-old job seekers together with the summer jobs of companies. You can apply for the positions on the campaign website.
