Tampere City Region municipalities initiate procurement of basic IT services – application open until 1.7.2024

The municipalities in the Tampere City Region are launching a procurement process for shared basic IT services to better meet their needs. The procurement includes user support services, expert services, security services, and cloud services. If the procurement proceeds as planned, its value is estimated to approach 200 million euros.

The municipalities in the Tampere City Region have begun updating their basic IT services. The goal is to improve the functionality, security, and user-friendliness of their information systems. This project, carried out through regional cooperation, aims to streamline the daily lives of residents and staff.

The procured basic IT services will be available not only to Tampere but also to the municipalities of Hämeenkyrö, Ylöjärvi, Nokia, Pirkkala, Lempäälä, Vesilahti, Kangasala, and Orivesi, as well as several companies owned by these municipalities. The procurement also involves early childhood education, basic education, and secondary education in these municipalities. The procurement affects nearly 100,000 users and approximately 55,000 workstations.

– Tampere City Region has a long tradition of ICT cooperation across municipal borders, and this procurement continues that tradition. The project aims not only to acquire modern basic IT services but also to find consistent ICT solutions for the region’s educational needs, says Maria Nikkilä, Director of the Digitalisation and IT Management Group at the City of Tampere.

The last time basic IT services were procured in the Tampere region was in 2015. The procurement includes the following basic IT service packages:

  1. User support services
  2. Device lifecycle services
  3. Operations and capacity services
  4. Cloud services
  5. Security services
  6. Identity management
  7. Expert services
  8. Service management
