Welcome to Tampere Residents' Evenings to hear and discuss current issues in the city

This autumn, there will be five Tampere Residents' Evenings. Events in Hervanta, Multisilta and Tesoma will focus on the regional development that inhabitants want, according to the residents' survey. The other two evenings will offer the opportunity to meet the City Councillors, the Mayor, Deputy Mayors and the Chair of the Council. Everyone is welcome to participate in the Residents' Evenings.

– Tampere Residents' Evenings are events where you can learn about current issues in the city and network with others. Often the programme includes entertainment and cultural content, says Regional Coordinator Jarno Koskinen.

This autumn, there will be five Tampere Residents' Evenings. Everyone is welcome to attend. The events adhere to the City's Principles for a Safer Space. You can drop in for a short or longer stay. Coffee and juice will be served to the first 100 people.

Discussion on residents' wishes

The Multisilta, Hervanta and Tesoma evenings will present the results of the regional residents' survey carried out in the summer and discuss the development of the neighbourhoods.

– In the survey, we asked residents about their experiences and aspirations for their own home area. Respondents were able to comment on issues such as transport connections, comfort, safety, services, reputation and community spirit. The results of the survey will be used to support the long-term development of these areas, says Henna Kuitunen, Development Coordinator.

– In all regions, the wish to have more things to do together and more encounters emerged from the responses. These will be discussed at the Tampere Residents' Evenings, says Kuitunen.

The Multisilta, Hervanta and Tesoma evenings also have programmes for families with children. The children's music group Höpinätötterö plays cheerful music. Magician Paspartuu will also be there to create fun balloon characters at his Pallobaloo! stand.

You can also get to know local associations and clubs during Residents' Evenings.

– I invite local associations in these areas to join us in the Tampere Residents' Evenings to introduce themselves to the people. The registration link is in Finnish on the city's website at tampere.fi/tamperelaistenillat, says Koskinen.

Have coffee with decision-makers

During two other Residents' Evenings, people will have the chance to meet the city's decision-makers.

On Tampere Day, the Main Library Metso is hosting an Action! Civic Engagement Day. As part of the day, there will be a Tampere Residents' Evening where you can have coffee and meet the city councillors. Refreshments have been reserved for 150 people.

The last Residents' Evening will take place in early December. The Chair of the City Council, the Mayor and the Deputy Mayors will be present. The venue will be announced later.

– You can follow the event on the Tampere Channel if you can't be there in person. A recording of the broadcast will be available for a couple of weeks after the event, says Regional Coordinator Koskinen.
