Survey for residents of Hervanta, Multisilta, Peltolammi and Tesoma gained more than 1,300 responses

From 3 June to 16 June 2024, the City of Tampere asked the residents of the Hervanta, Multisilta, Peltolammi and Tesoma neighbourhoods about their experiences, the current state of the neighbourhoods, the best things about the areas and the development they would like to see. The responses to the survey will be used to support the long-term development of these areas.

Peltolampi residents praised the nature and accessibility of the area.

The resident survey received a total of 1,314 responses (629 from Hervanta, 195 from Multisilta, 262 from Peltolammi and 222 from Tesoma). The survey was available both online and on a printed form. The survey was about residents' experiences and wishes, grouped by the following themes: housing, public services, commercial services, schools, daycare centres, transport connections within the area, transport connections to other areas, comfort, safety, community spirit, feeling at home, reputation and opportunities for exerting influence. 

- We want to pay special attention to the neighbourhoods of Hervanta, Kaukajärvi-Annala, Multisilta-Peltolammi and Tesoma. It is important to ensure the vitality and equality of residential areas, says Henna Kuitunen, neighbourhood development coordinator. 

Hervanta: A neighbourhood close to nature, with extensive local services and transport connections

Hervanta received the most praise for its closeness to nature and the forests in the area. The residents also value local services, such as Duo Shopping Centre and the library, and good transport connections in the area. 

The responses on the development of Hervanta highlighted topics related to safety, comfort and the neighbourhood’s reputation. The residents hope that the development of the area will pay particular attention to dealing with disturbances in central Hervanta, improving cleanliness and increasing traffic safety.

Multisilta: A peaceful neighbourhood close to nature and good transport connections

Peacefulness and closeness to nature were seen as the best aspects of Multisilta. The residents’ appreciation focuses on the neighbourhood's nature, spacious housing and good transport connections.

The desired areas for development in Multisilta were services, reputation and comfort. The residents would like to have more diverse commercial services and see the commercial centre developed. They also hope for the area to be more pleasant. 

Peltolammi: Spacious living close to nature and good transport connections

In Peltolammi, the residents were particularly satisfied with their closeness to nature, spacious housing and good transport connections. 

Peltolammi residents want to develop services and comfort, in particular. They are especially looking forward to the construction of a new wellbeing centre. In terms of comfort, the residents wished for the facades of the built environment to be renovated and for more diverse outdoor activities. 

Tesoma: A neighbourhood close to nature with diverse services and lake scenery 

Tesoma residents appreciate the local nature, such as forests and lakes. The diverse local services were also praised.
Tesoma's most commonly mentioned areas for development were security and the neighbourhood’s reputation. The residents also hoped for more comfort in the area, more diverse commercial services, intervening in disturbances, and more leisure activities and opportunities for physical exercise. 

Coming up: Residents’ Evenings for Tampere neighbourhoods included in the survey 

Residents’ Evenings, coordinated by the City of Tampere, will continue in the autumn. They give residents the opportunity to meet other residents of the area and discuss current issues.
