The new year of Children´s gallery starts with art around words

The first Children's gallery of the year, Poems from Rulla's Poetry Livingroom, opens in the Corridor gallery of the Culture House Laikku on Friday, January 24. The exhibition features poems created in the Poetry Living Room, which children have written together with their parents, as well as two animations featuring characters and poems developed by children in Rulla's Art Hours.

The exhibition presents poems, written by children together their parents, while visiting Children´s Cultural Centre Rulla´s Poetry Livingroom. The Poetry Livingroom was part of the Kirsi Kunnas 100 jubilee year last year and lasts also this spring. Poetry Livingrooms can be found all around Finland, for example in libraries and cultural centers.

Next to the poems will be two animations, created based on the drawings and words of Rulla´s Art hour attendees in Autumn 2023. The animations, also being part of the Kirsi Kunnas 100 jubilee year, were premiered in October 2024 in the windows of Tampereen työväen teatteri, as part of the Window Walkabout event.

Rulla´s Art Hours are free of charge fine art teaching, given in Finnish and English language.

The author Kirsi Kunnas believed that everyone can play with words! Get inspired by the poems and leave your own to the Poem Mailbox in the exhibition.
