Library computers for customers
All libraries have computers for customers’ use. A library card and password are required to use the computers. The computers have internet access, most common software programmes, and printing options. Use is free of charge, but there is a charge for printing.
Bookings for computers can be made in person using the reservation system, by calling or visiting the library.
Operating times for computers
Children (under 15 years) can use computers for 60 minutes per day. For adults, the operating time is generally 120 minutes per day.
The computers of Hervanta Library, Sampola Library, Lielahti Library's Kipinä space, and Metso Olotila Dwelling space (on the main floor next to the lobby), can be used by adults (over 15 years) for 180 minutes per day.
Some libraries also have express computers which can be used for 30 minutes. Please note that there may be exceptions to these times for each library.
Quick guide to using computers
By using a library computer, customers agree to abide by the terms and conditions for using the computers.
You log on to the computer by using your library card number and password. You can log on directly to a vacant computer without an appointment. If the computer is free, you can log on 10 minutes before the start of the reservation.
You will receive two notifications when your booking expires: the first one 10 minutes and the second one 2 minutes before the end of your booking.
The computer can be temporarily locked by clicking on the ‘Lock the computer’ icon on the desktop. The lock time is 10 minutes. When the booking expires, the customer is automatically logged out of the computer. The customer will also be logged out if the machine has not been used for 10 minutes. A fee will be charged for the printouts, according to the price list.
