Culture for everyone free of charge
The City of Tampere offers a lot of free cultural content for both city residents and visitors from afar. On this page, you can find a comprehensive list of Tampere's free opportunities to engage with culture.

Tampere Public Cultural Services
Tampere Public Cultural Services provides opportunities for residents to engage in and enjoy art and culture. The art exhibitions, concerts, and various events at Laikku Cultural Center, Hiedanranta Culture, Haihara Art Center, and Children's Culture Center Rulla are open to everyone and free of charge. In some exceptional cases, such as separately announced art workshops, a moderate material fee may be charged.
Tampere Art Museum
In 2024 there is free admission to the Tampere Art Museum on one Friday of a month (with some exceptions) for the whole day 10am-6pm. The dates are 5.4., 7.6., 5.7., 2.8., 6.9. ja 1.11.2024.
Moomin Museum
In 2024 there is free admission to the Moomin Museum on one Friday of a month (with some exceptions) for the whole day, ie. 10am-6pm. The dates are 12.1., 9.2., 8.3., 12.4., 14.6., 12.7., 9.8., 11.10., 8.11. and 13.12.2024. There is also free admission on the International Museum Day, Saturday 18 May 2024.
Sara Hildén Art Museum
Free admission once a month on the last Friday of the month from 3 PM to 6 PM.
Museum Centre Vapriikki
Free admission on Fridays from 3 PM to 6 PM.
Museum Milavida
Free admission on Fridays from 3 PM to 6 PM.
Amuri Museum of Historic Housing
Free admission on Fridays from 3 PM to 6 PM.
Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra
Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra organizes an annual free outdoor concert, the traditional Park Concert in Sorsapuisto Park, in August.
The Young Listeners' Club, established in 2002, provides a unique opportunity for individuals aged 15-26 to participate in the activities of a large orchestra and enjoy diverse music. Joining the Young Listeners' Club is free, and members receive various benefits, including free admission to the orchestra's Afternoon of Fauns chamber music concerts.
Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra also organizes several free concerts and rehearsal visits for daycare and school groups annually. School concerts are primarily offered to classes in Tampere, while rehearsal visits are open to all groups in the Pirkanmaa region, from daycare children to high school students.
The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region
- Courses in literacy, writing skills, and Finnish language specifically designed for immigrants (not all courses are free, those labeled with a price of 0 € are free)
- General lectures throughout the academic year
- Wednesday Coffee events (lectures and workshops) weekly during the academic year
- Project-specific training courses are free (currently available in the areas of employment, basic skills, and Finnish language)
- Individual guidance and counseling at the Learning Workshop, free meetings 1-10 times
- Teams platform training for students at the Adult Education Centre
- Registration assistance at the beginning of each semester (personal guidance for online registration)
Tampereen Vocal Music Festival
The choir event Tampere Vocal Music Festival takes place in odd-numbered years in June, next time in 2025.
Free events:
- Advance Event: The Power of Song
- Contest for Vocal Ensembles (excluding the Ensemble Contest Gala concert) and the closing party
- Chorus Review (excluding the Gala concert)
- Free concert series called Feel the Festival!
- Discussion sessions
Tampere Jazz Happening
The international jazz event Tampere Jazz Happening is held annually in Tampere during the All Saints' Day weekend, next time from October 31st to November 3rd, 2024. The opening and closing concerts of the festival are free.
Tampere Biennale
The Tampere Biennale, a festival of new Finnish concert music, takes place in even-numbered years in April, next time from April 15 to 19, 2026.
Some concerts are free of charge. The pre-events and exhibitions of the festival are also free.
Tampere City Library
In addition to endless reading material with a library card, Tampere City Library offers many opportunities to participate in free events and training sessions. The library also provides free service for those who have difficulties visiting the library.
Kaikukortti Card
The city of Tampere is part of the Kaikukortti Card network. The card is intended for individuals and families in difficult financial situations who have a client relationship with a card-distributing social service or another participating organization.
With Kaikukortti, you can obtain free admission tickets to museums, theaters, festivals, or concerts. The card is personal and free of charge.
