The spring workshops at the Moomin Museum Studio offer an introduction to the ancient art of bookbinding. By joining one of our guided non-stop workshops, you can learn to make a book for whatever purpose you like – to serve as a notebook, recipe book, sketchbook or gift. After mastering the technique, you can easily make booklets at home using recycled paper or, like our Studio, by using surplus wallpaper. Let’s recycle creatively!
Choose an inspirational cover paper, fold the inside pages, and start assembling your booklet. Decorate the cover with a special label or, like Tove, draw Moomin characters on the dedication page. Then unleash your creativity – fill your book with writings, drawings, doodles, sketches or anything you like!
The Studio's guided non-stop workshops are open from noon to 4.00 pm whenever the museum is open. Workshops are included in the price of admission, and they are suitable for everyone – no prior crafting experience is necessary.
For ideas, visit our exhibition at the Moomin Museum’s Observatory, From Tove’s Bookshelf. There you take inspiration from the books and illustrations on display, or from the bookplates and inscriptions penned by Tove in the books she gifted to her loved ones.
The wonderful wallpapers available in the workshop were kindly donated by Pihlgren & Ritola and the Seinäruusu wallpaper and textile store.
