The school and day care centre is located in the same plot on Mekaniikanpolku than the old school building, which was demolished in 2020. The school will no longer be using the Pelipuisto location when the new building opens.
Etelä-Hervannan koulu ja päiväkoti is the largest singular unit of all educational buildings in the City of Tampere, considering all the functions. The new building has facilities for early childhood education and care, pre-primary education and basic education grades 1 to 9. The four-storey building is designed for approximately 1,300 pupils in pre-primary education and basic education. The building also has a day care centre for 160 children. There is also an oral health care unit.
Etelä-Hervannan koulu operated in temporary facilities at Konetalo on the Hervanta campus of Tampere University as of autumn 2018. As planned, now Ahvenisjärven koulu school's schoolhouse in Pohjois-Hervanta, will move to the same premises.
The old Ahvenisjärven koulu building will be demolished and a new school building will be built. The new school will replace the old one and it will be ready for an increase in service needs. The new school will open in August 2026. The Kanjonin koulu schoolhouse continues to operate as usual.
Ikurin päiväkoti ja koulu, day care centre and school ready
The joint new building of Ikurin päiväkoti ja koulu on Virontörmänkatu was completed and opened in August 2023. The new school and day care centre locate on the same plot as the old Ikurin koulu school building and Myllärin päiväkoti day care centre. The new day care centre will replace the day care centres of Myllärin päiväkoti and Länsi-Tesoman päiväkoti. The day care centre is designed for 160 children and the school for 150 pupils (pre-primary education and grades 1-2).
All facilities in the new Sammon koulu ja päiväkoti school and day care centre building on Kaupinkatu will open at the beginning of the autumn semester. The day care centre started operating in the new location last January. At the beginning of the semester in August, approximately 300 pre-primary and basic education pupils will move from Kissanmaan koulu school to the premises for the duration of the construction and restoration work of their school. Some of the teaching facilities in the new building are available to the Sammon koulu school. Pre-primary education will also start in the new facilities in August.
The construction of the new Eteläpuiston koulu ja päiväkoti school and day care centre is underway on Koulukatu. The building will be available by August 2024. It will have early education and care facilities for 120 children and 150 pupils in pre-primary education and grades 1-2.
Construction work for new Ojalan päiväkoti ja koulu day care centre and school underway
Construction work for the new Ojalan päiväkoti ja koulu daycare centre and school has also begun. The building is located in the new residential area of Ojala in Mossinkaari 2. The day care centre is designed for 160 children and the school for 150 pupils in pre-primary and primary education. The facilities will be available in August 2024.
From the third grade, the pupils from Ojalan koulu will continue at the new Lamminrahkan yhtenäiskoulu school in Kangasala, where seats are reserved for pupils in the Ojala region. The school, built by the City of Kangasala, is located on Mossin puistokatu.
A new schoolhouse will be built on the site of Lamminpään koulu school in early 2024. The new school building replaces the old sports hall building and the canteen building. The old school building on the same plot will be renovated once the new school building has been completed.
The new Kisapuiston päiväkoti day care centre is currently under construction on the site of the old day care centre and school in Hervanta. The day care centre will open in January 2024.
A new day care centre will be built in Messukylä, which will open in early 2024. The new day care centre will be built at the street corner of Messukylänkatu and Kyläojankatu. Once the new building has been completed, the old Messukylän päiväkoti will be closed.
The Tahmelan päiväkoti day care centre will continue to operate in temporary facilities. A new day care centre will be built on the plot of the old day care centre on Torpankatu. It will open in August 2025.
The construction of Tasanteen päiväkoti day care centre started in May on Rusthollinkatu. The old buildings will be demolished and replaced with one new building. The day care centre will be completed in August 2024. There will be facilities for 140 children.
Renovations continue throughout city
The renovation of Leinolan päiväkoti day-care centre has been completed. The facilities opened in August 2023.
The renovation of the two buildings of Hyhkyn koulu school is almost complete. The facilities will be available at the beginning of the semester in August 2023. The renovated school is designed for 200 pupils in basic education and 50 pupils in pre-primary education. The second building also has facilities for school health care.
The final stage of the renovation has begun at Messukylän koulu school. The building, known as Kivikoulu (“stone school”), will be available by the beginning of 2024.
The renovation of the property that was previously used by educational institutions in Pyynikintie 2 is ongoing. The property will have permanent temporary facilities for basic education and permanent facilities for general upper secondary education.
Renovation was started in the spring at Härmälän koulu school. The building will be available at the beginning of 2025. The school is designed for 425 pupils (pre-primary education and grades 1–6). The school has been operating in temporary facilities at Hatanpään koulutalo schoolhouse since August 2020.
In the autumn of 2023, renovation will also begin at Raholan päiväkoti day care centre, from where the children will move to Länsi-Tesoman päiväkoti day care centre.
