Effects of the strike on public transport
The Nysse service will be suspended for buses, trams and trains from 02.00 on Thursday 14 December until 01.59 on Friday 15 December. Customers should be prepared for major disruptions to public transport, and consider carpooling and teleworking where possible.
Cancelled bus and tram services can be checked in the Nysse route guide, where they will be posted by 16:00 on Wednesday 13 December. After that date, the number of services to be operated will be added to the route book as operators see the number of drivers coming to work. The route guide will therefore continue to be updated even on the day of the strike. Passengers are advised to check their own departure information just before departure.
Impact of the strike on school meals, after-school snacks and school transport
A strike by the Public and Welfare Workers' Union (JHL) in Pirkanmaa Voimia will affect the catering in day-care centres, schools and secondary schools on Thursday.
It will not be possible to provide hot food in schools during the strike on Thursday 14 December 2023. School lunches will vary from juice soup, smoothies, snack biscuits, fruit and bread. Pupils can bring their own snacks to supplement the school lunch.
Special dietary requirements cannot be catered for in school catering during the strikeday. The effects of the strike will still be felt on Tuesday 19 December of the following week with the likely absence of special diets.
In the afternoon club at the school, children can have their own snack, because Voimia is unable to guarantee the availability of snacks.
The strike has no impact on the catering and cleaning services at the Konetalo (Ahvenisjärvi School), Puistokoulu and Erho unit.
According to the information currently available, the strike will not affect taxi transport for special needs pupils or PALI transport. In practice, it will not be possible to operate all school routes or to provide substitute transport. However, it is possible for parents of a child who is entitled to school transport to apply for a mileage allowance.
In the event of an authorised absence, schools are not allowed to provide distance learning in accordance with the Basic Education Act. In the case of authorised absences due to the strike, teachers will give pupils assignments to do at home, for example via Teams.
Impact of the strike on nursery and pre-school meals
It will not be possible to serve hot meals in nurseries and pre-schools during the strike on Thursday 14 December 2023. A variety of cereals, smoothies, milk, juice soup, bread and fruit will be available. Special diets cannot be catered for, so children with special diets should pack their own snack.
In pre-school groups in schools, the child may have own snack to support the products provided in school. Special diets will not be possible during the strike.
The effects of the strike will still be felt on Tuesday 19 December of the following week with the likely absence of special diets.

The strike measures will also affect Tredu's teaching activities during the strike. Student meals will not be provided in some of the establishments. Special arrangements will be made for teaching on Thursday in these locations. The institutions will inform their guardians and students in more detail about the impact of the strike.
Pirkanmaan Voimia Oy will not provide catering services in the educational institutions on Thursday 14.12. and some of Tredu's student restaurants will be closed. Special arrangements will be made for teaching on Thursday at these locations.

The impact of the strike on upper secondary education
Due to the strike, the City of Tampere's daytime upper secondary schools will switch to distance learning on Thursday 14.12.2023. The institutions will inform parents and students in more detail about the effects of the strike.
Impact of the strike on sports and youth services
The strike will lead to the closure of the sports and youth services on 14 December. Due to the strike, normal club activities cannot be organised in the closed outdoor and indoor sports facilities. For example, the Pyynikki sports field, the artificial ice rinks in Koulukatu and Sorsapuisto, and the heated artificial turf in Kauppi Sports Park will be closed and there will be no club activities during the strike. There will be no maintenance of skating rinks or ski slopes during the day and no upgrading of outdoor sports facilities.
The swimming pools in Tesoma, Pyynikki and Hervanta will be closed on the strike day, while the Tampere Swimming Centre (in Kaleva) will be open during normal opening hours. All ice rinks will also be closed. As for indoor sports facilities, the Hervanta Leisure Centre is open, but other facilities, such as the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre, Kaukajärvi Leisure Centre, Tesoma Ball Hall, Ikuri Sports Hall, Tampere Stadium and Nääshalli are closed and no club activities can be organised.
For youth services, all youth facilities and services will be closed on the strike day 14.12., including the Youth Cultural Centre Monitoimitalo.
The effects of the strike on the operations of Tampere Facilities Services
The strike of the Union of Public and Welfare Sector Employees (JHL) also affects the work at Tampereen Tilapalvelut. Tampereen Tilapalvelut has prepared for the industrial action and has tried to minimise the inconvenience to customers. Critical functions are secured through the use of available staff and service providers, and technical customer support is ensured.

The tasks covered by the industrial action are those carried out by Tampereen Infra staff, the most visible of which for the local population are snow ploughing and anti-skid work, hand-plowing, skating rink work and infrastructure construction projects.
