The classic text interpreted by Teatteri Lysti

This summer, the amateur theater Teatteri Lysti in Tampere presents the play “Jäniksen vuosi” (The Year of the Hare). The play is based on Arto Paasilinna’s novel and has been adapted for the stage by Kristian Smeds. The director of the performance is Tarja-Liisa Qvintus.

The play tells the story of journalist Kaarlo Vatanen, who collides with a hare and follows it into the forest, leaving behind the dullness of Helsinki. Vatanen and the hare embark on an adventure across Finland, encountering peculiar people and finding their way toward nature. The tale is a tender and significant adult fable that explores friendship, empowerment, and human destinies, sprinkled with humor. Recommended for ages 13 and older.
