Registration for the autumn 2024 courses at The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region begins online on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 12:00 PM. The Adult Education Centre recommends registering online, but registration by phone and in person at offices is also possible starting from August 14, 2024, at 12:00 PM. The course selection can be browsed in advance on the registration website.
Support for online registration will be available at Sampola in Tampere on Monday, August 5, 2024, and Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Adult Education Centre will also visit Kuru Library on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and Viljakkala Library from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Ylöjärvi Library Leija will host registration support and study guidance on Monday, August 12, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
As in previous years, the autumn 2024 selection includes full-year and single-semester courses, as well as short courses ranging from one day or weekend to a few sessions. Most courses start in early September, but courses begin throughout the semester.
New courses for autumn 2024 include courses for aging, children's emotional intelligence courses, XXL-Dance, an Indian vegan cuisine, and a biodegradable clay urn crafting course under death doula guidance. Additionally, the Centre offers courses in game design and podcast production, covering everything from scripting to recording, editing, and publishing.
The Centre offers courses in 23 languages spanning nearly every language family, with new courses in languages such as Norwegian and Ukrainian. Asian languages have gained popularity, and this autumn, the Centre offers courses in Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, responding to increased demand.
The public lecture season begins on September 3, 2024. Free public lectures for autumn cover topics ranging from exploring Kirsi Kunnas's world and housing issues to the joy of learning, health topics, and retirement. Speakers include Dr. Pippa Laukka and actress Outi Mäenpää. Sampolan yö, focusing on the arts, and the Hurmaavan surmaava kulutus event will be held at Sampola on November 22, 2024.
The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region is Finland's first adult education centre, serving over 15,000 students annually, with a total of over 30,000 course participants across approximately 2,000 courses in Tampere, Ylöjärvi, and online. The Centre records over 185,000 visits annually.
