Space-themed Night at Sampola on November 22, 2024, offers free activities for all ages
The theme for the 2024 Space-themed Night at Sampola is space. This theme is reflected in the sci-fi inspired programs that will take place in the Sampola library and The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region from 4:30 PM to 11:30 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024.
The Adult Education Centre will host a lightsaber class, sci-fi themed creative writing workshops, a crafting session with a playful take on the theme, and a singing bowl relaxation session exploring the sounds of space. There will also be a sci-fi themed art exhibition by the Sara Hildén Academy, the visual arts school of The Adult Education Centre.
At the Sampola library, the public can participate in a cosmic story hour, a quiz, and a galactic costume show, as well as hear book recommendations related to the theme. In the Tekomo maker space, visitors can make space-themed pins and 3D prints.
Throughout the evening, the multidisciplinary duo Masa Miracles will perform in the library hall, with a blend of synthesizers and vocals that align with the space theme. The library doors will remain open until midnight, and the event will conclude with a bedtime story for adults.
In the Sampola lobby, attendees can play theme-appropriate board games and make use of The Adult Education Centre’s recycling table, which offers the opportunity to pass on items and clothes that are in good condition but no longer needed.
The event will be served by a pop-up café run by the student association of The Adult Education Centre until the evening.
The Space-themed Night at Sampola event by The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region and the Tampere City Library is being held for the fourth time and for the first time since the COVID years. Each year, a theme is chosen for the event.
