Traditional and paper-crafted Christmas joy at the Moomin Museum!
We all know that Moomins don’t celebrate Christmas—they hibernate through the winter with their bellies full of fir tree needles. However, in The Fir Tree, the Moomin family suddenly finds themselves in the midst of a strange and wonderful Christmas frenzy. With Tove Jansson’s characteristic empathy, the story marvels at the chaos of holiday preparations and ends with a quiet reflection on the true heart of Christmas: warmth and caring. During the brief reading session, both children and adults can enjoy a moment of rest before the next round of hustle and bustle takes over.
Hustle and bustle, however, is exactly what awaits in the Moomin Museum’s Studio! This year, the workshop focuses on creating Christmas tree decorations from recycled paper. Paper ornaments have a long tradition of gracing tree branches, with endless designs ranging from classic paper chains to intricate star creations. In this year’s workshop, participants will craft exquisite traditional and modern decorations from the pages of discarded books—with, of course, a stylish Moomin twist!
