Users find Tampere.fi website useful and easy to use

According to a recent user survey, the users search the City of Tampere's website especially for information related to leisure and sports, and for current affairs. The majority of respondents said they found the information they were looking for. The survey also provided suggestions for improvements. The city will develop the site based on user feedback. The most recent implementation are pages with information by region.

A survey was conducted on the City of Tampere's Tampere.fi website between 18 November and 9 December 2024. The survey could be answered through the pop-up window displayed on the website when visiting the site or directly by clicking on the link. The questionnaire was available in both Finnish and English. 972 respondents took part in the survey, 85 of whom replied in English.

The majority found the information they were looking for

Across all the responses, the most popular topics on Tampere.fi was the information on leisure, hobbies and sports (32 %) and current affairs (30 %). The next most popular topics were the calendar of events (23 %), library information (20 %), culture (20 %), education (12 %) and transport (12 %).

75 % of respondents had found the information they were looking for. 10 % of respondents had not found the information they were looking for. 15 % of respondents said they had not looked for anything specific on the website.

Based on the free feedback from respondents, information on health services was also sought on Tampere.fi. From 2023, social and health services have been organised by the Wellbeing services county of Pirkanmaa. Information on social and health services can be found on the Pirha.fi website.

User experiences and feedback to improve the website

The survey measured satisfaction with the Tampere.fi website by asking respondents to rate statements that examine the site's features from different perspectives. The ratings were used to create a user satisfaction index for the site. It was 3.71 on a scale of 1 to 5.

Respondents were most likely to agree that the website is useful, that the pages work without problems and that the website is generally easy to use. The lowest satisfaction scores were for the website's distinctive character, the ease with which information can be found and its clarity. All the features assessed scored above 3 on a scale of 1 to 5.

Respondents gave the site a school rating of 7.95 on a scale of 4 to 10.

Both the User Satisfaction Index and the School Score are slightly higher than in the 2023 survey, with a User Satisfaction Index of 3.63 and a School Score of 7.86 respectively. Compared to the previous year, there was an increase in all user satisfaction scores for the different attributes. The main improvement was in the ease of use of the website.

The survey also gave the respondents the opportunity to provide free feedback and suggestions for improvements to the site. Some of the areas where improvements were requested included clarity, usability, search functionality and multilingualism.

The feedback received will be taken into account in the development of the website. The search functionality of the site will be developed in the early part of the year. The clarity, usability and multilingualism of the site will also be further developed in 2025.

Most respondents were residents of Tampere

81 % of respondents to the user survey were residents of Tampere and 19 % were from outside the city.

Respondents were represented from all age groups. The respondent groups were, in order of magnitude, 55-64 years old (21 %), 35-44 years old (21 %), 45-54 years old (18 %), 65-74 years old (16 %), 25-34 years old (13 %), 15-24 years old (6 %), 75+ years old (4 %) and under 15 years old (1 %).

In terms of status or occupation, respondents were most often retired (23 %), employed (22 %), officers (12 %), senior officers (11 %), student (10 %) or unemployed (10 %).

Most users come to the site via a search

The majority of respondents (38 %) said that they arrived via an external search service. The next most frequent way of accessing the site was via an old memory, i.e. a direct address (24 %). 8 % of respondents said they came via social media and 8 % via a link on another page.

Of all respondents, 34 % said they visited the City of Tampere website occasionally, 27 % monthly, 26 % weekly, 8 % daily and 5 % for the first time.

A user survey is made in the Tampere.fi website annually. This year's survey was carried out by Online-tutkimus. Participants had the opportunity to take part in a prize draw for cinema tickets if they wished. The winners of the draw have been informed personally.

New regional information pages

The City of Tampere regularly asks users for their views on the Tampere.fi website in various ways, including user surveys and separate user surveys, and by continuously collecting feedback on a page-by-page basis. Feedback and ideas for improvements from users guide the development of the site.

The most recent implementation on the Tampere.fi website, based on user requests, is the regional information pages, Information by region, launched at the turn of the year. The regional information pages show what services the city has to offer in the different regions of Tampere - west, east, south, north and city centre - as well as how the regions are being developed and what is currently happening in the regions.
