Student welfare

The goal of upper secondary school student welfare is to promote students' learning, health, and well-being, and to ensure the well-being of the school community as well as the healthiness and safety of the learning environment. Student welfare is implemented both as communal and individual student welfare (Student Welfare Act (1297/2013) §3). The individual student welfare group is formed on a case-by-case basis as needed.

The student's closest advisor is the tutor, whom they can meet in their office as needed and whom the student can approach with any questions. The tutor assesses when the student needs to be directed to seek further help. Guidance counselor services are available daily, and health services are available during reception hours.

Curator and psychological services

There is a curator and a psychologist in all upper secondary schools in Tampere. They work at several different upper secondary schools.

Students can seek the services of the upper secondary school curator or psychologist through the school nurse, tutor, teacher, guidance counselor, principal, or special needs teacher. Students themselves or their guardians can also make contact. The contact information for the curator and psychologist can be found on the school's website and in the permanent notices on Wilma.

Their work focuses on guidance and counseling. During visits, the student's life situation and support needs are assessed. If necessary, the student is referred for further examinations and continued care.

Curator Salla Kananen: 050 4094906, [email protected] / Salla is the curator for the 1st, 3rd and 4th year students. Meetings at Hatanpään lukio in room 211, 2nd floor.

Curator Tuija Routamaa: 040 5755789, [email protected] / Tuija is the curator for the 2nd year students. Meetings at Hatanpään lukio in room 406, 4th floor.

The curator helps students with issues related to studying (e.g., motivation problems and absences), relationships, social problems (e.g., family issues and substance use), and independence (financial and housing advice). If necessary, the curator also performs crisis work.

Psychologist Nina Liukkonen: 044 4863836, [email protected]. Meetings at Hatanpään lukio in room 406, 4th floor.

The psychologist guides, advises, and supports upper secondary school students with issues related to mental well-being, studying, and life situations. You can contact our psychologist for reasons such as study stress, depression, anxiety, nervousness, or a general feeling of unease. You can also turn to the upper secondary school psychologist in crisis situations.

Meetings with the curator and psychologist are by appointment, which can be made via Wilma, email, or phone.
