It is no longer possible to buy a special swimming card in 2024. Previously purchased special swimming cards are valid until the end of their validity period.
Special swimming card
The sale of the special swimming card has ended as of 1 January 2024
The special swimming card is intended to promote the independent swimming activities of people with different disabilities and long-term illnesses. People with specific KELA card codes or a certificate based on a medical report concerning a significant impediment are entitled to a special swimming card. The criteria are reviewed annually. When visiting the swimming pool, the holder of a special swimming card must be able to prove their identity by means of a photo ID.
The special swimming card can be topped up. It is worth keeping the card, even if you do not intend to top it up straight away. The special swimming card is valid for six months or one year from the date of purchase, after which you can top it up. The card is accepted in the swimming pools of Pyynikki, Hervanta and Tesoma as well as at Tampere Swimming Centre during their opening hours. The card is not valid in the outdoor pool. If you lose your special swimming card, an administrative fee of EUR 20 is charged for a replacement card. The card will not be redeemed later.
Buying a special swimming card
The cards are available from the Sports Services. The card is personal and issued by decision of the Director of Sports and Youth. When you collect the card in person, you must prove your identity and provide a reliable account of the grounds for issuing the card.
If you lose your special swimming card and you have kept your receipt, the remaining swims on the lost card can be retrieved against a fee. The lost card will then be invalid.
