Visit
The Haihara Art Centre is located in Tampere, in the Kaukajärvi district. The exhibition spaces are two historical buildings, the main building, or Manor, and the Stable. In the courtyard of the art centre, you can also find Haihara Coffee Chamber, Haihara Puppet Theatre, Summer Theatre Lysti, the Bakery, the Mill, and the art and craft shop at Runeberg’s Cottage. The lush park area of Haihara is open for everyone to use.
Opening Hours
The Art Centre’s exhibitions are open in the summer from Tuesday to Sunday, 12 PM to 6 PM, and admission is free. Both spaces are closed on Mondays, during exhibition installations, on Ascension Day, and Midsummer.
Operators in the Area
In addition to exhibitions, many different events are organized in the manor area. In the summer, there are yoga courses, blanket flea markets, art workshops for children and adults, summer and puppet theatre performances, and park concerts. You can enjoy refreshments at the Coffee Chamber, located in a more than 200-year-old workers’ cottage. At Runeberg’s Cottage, you can purchase products made by local artisans and artists for yourself or as gifts.
Activities also take place in the Haihara area outside the summer season. In autumn and winter, concerts, exercise courses, and monthly events are organized. The manor building is also rented for parties, meetings, and events when there are no art exhibitions.
Getting There
The Art Centre is easily accessible by Nysse bus number 10, which you can board from Hämeenkatu, among other places. The park area of the manor begins next to the terminus of line 10, and the journey to the art centre is short. The art centre also has its own small parking area, which is accessed via a dirt road past the windmill. The parking area is on the right shortly after the mill.
