New Ahvenisjärvi school building rises up to replace old school

Construction continues at several sites across the city. In Hervanta, operations at the Ahvenisjärvi school building have been relocated as planned to the Konetalo building on the Hervanta campus of the University of Tampere. The old school building in Ahvenisjärvi will be replaced by a new one, which will be ready for use in August 2026.

The new school will be home to pre-primary and basic education pupils (grades 1–9). The building will include a large sports hall and a smaller multi-purpose hall, which will be used during the day by children in basic and early childhood education. At other times, they can be used by residents and sport clubs in the area, among others.

In Lamminpää a new school building will be built in the grounds of the school, which will replace the old gymnasium and canteen building. The old Lamminpää school building on the same plot will be renovated once the new school building has been completed in August 2025.

Tahmela day-care centre will continue to operate in temporary facilities. A new day-care centre for 100 children will be built on the site of the old day-care centre on Torpankatu, which will be opened in August 2025.

Renovation of Pyynikintie 2 complete

Several day-care centres and schools are also undergoing renovation. The renovation of the daycare centre in Rahola has been completed, and the centre is ready for early childhood education in August 2024.

Renovation work continues at Härmälä School, for example. The Härmälä school building will be ready for use early in 2025. Kissanmaa School is also undergoing renovation. The construction work will be completed in the autumn of 2025. During the construction work, the school's approximately 300 pre-primary and basic school pupils have moved to the new Sampo School and day-care building on Kaupinkatu, which was completed in autumn 2023.

The renovation of the old educational building at Pyynikintie 2 has been completed. The property will have permanent temporary facilities for basic education and permanent facilities for general upper secondary education. The premises are now used by grades 4–6 of Lamminpää School, and Tampereen Lyseo Upper Secondary School, which is undergoing renovation. When the renovation of the Lyseo Upper Secondary School is completed later, Hatanpää Upper Secondary School will move permanently to Pyynikintie 2.

Renovation and new day-care centre at Hatanpää Jukola

Originally a manor barn at Hatanpää Jukola, the building was renovated for hospital use in 1917 and will now be converted into a daycare centre. The site is located near the Hatanpää Arboretum. The plot borders Hatanpää Manor on both sides.  The day-care centre will have a total of 140 places or seven early childhood education groups.

The change of use and the condition of the building require extensive renovation. Construction of the daycare centre will start in August 2024 and it will open in January 2026. The building will initially serve as a temporary facility during the upcoming reservation of Koivistonkylä day-care centre.
