General grants and other grants from the City of Tampere available – information session on Wednesday 8.1.2025

The City of Tampere's general grants and personal grants for professional artists for 2025 are open for applications from January 7th to January 31st, 2025. At the same time, a new grant for community activities opens, which can be applied for continuously. Grants will be presented at an information session and clinic on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, starting at 17.30. The information session can also be followed live on the Tampere Channel.

For those interested in grants from the City of Tampere, a grant information session will be held on Wednesday 8.1.2025 at 17.30–19.00. The event can be attended on-site in the Lehmus Hall of the Metso Main Library (Pirkankatu 2). You can also follow the information session online on the Tampere Channel.

The information session will provide information on the City of Tampere's 2025 grant applications and instructions on how to apply for general grants. After the info session, there will be a grant clinic where you can ask the responsible grant officers about the grants you're interested in. The event will be primarily in Finnish, but you can ask questions in English.

Everyone is welcome to the event. No prior registration is required. Coffee is reserved for 70 people and will be served at 17.00.

General grants support a wide range of activities

The Culture and Leisure Committee is seeking applications for the following general grants: general grants for cultural and artistic communities, cultural leisure activities, cultural minorities, sport, applied sport, family support, youth associations, neighbourhood activities, well-being promotion and substance abuse prevention and the promotion of the well-being of older people.

There are also general grants for animal welfare work from the Regional Environmental Health Section of the Committee for City Planning and Infrastructure Services.

General grants may be awarded to associations or communities which have been active for at least one calendar year prior to the date of application and which are registered or have provided proof of having applied for registration. It must be possible to verify the costs of the activities in the associations' accounts. Where specific conditions are attached to the grant, these are set out in the specific award criteria.

Project grants for community activities

Associations, individual residents, or working groups can apply for a new project grant for community activities. Project grants can be awarded for activities that bring Tampere residents together, improve the ability of communities to work for the benefit of Tampere residents, support the city’s pleasantness and residents’ well-being, promote a resource- and energy-saving lifestyle, and ensure equal integration of people into the community or neighborhood.

Project grants for community activities can be applied for continuously throughout the year 2025, and they will be awarded as long as there are funds available for this purpose.

Grants for professional artists

In 2025, artists working in the literary and performing arts (including the performing arts, music, dance and circus arts) will be eligible to apply for a personal grant for professional artists. These grants are small grants to support work in the arts.

Grants for professional artists are available to individuals who are working as professional artists and are officially residents of Tampere. It is not required that the work in the arts be full-time, but the grant does not support hobby activities. The grant will not be awarded to groups or associations, nor to applicants who have been awarded a professional artists' grant by the City of Tampere within the previous two years.

The grants for professional artists are decided by the Culture and Leisure Committee. Professional artists' grants may be awarded for artistic work, exhibition costs or further training. The grant is not conditional on working outside of other gainful employment.
