In August, an exhibition of members of the Akaa Visual Artists Association will open in Haihara Art Center's Talli. The exhibition will feature a diverse range of art, including paintings, graphic arts, light and contrasts, faces, figures, and landscapes from this world and others. One of the artists will showcase large puppets, another will present a ceramic artwork related to the mythological creation story of Kalevala, whereas a third artist is interested in exploring the relationship between shadows, connections, and intermediate spaces. Joy, playfulness, and creative freedom are recurring themes throughout the exhibition.
The artworks in the exhibition have been created in various ways. Some pieces may come together simply by taking action, while others require contemplation and research before starting. For some artists, the creative process is an intuitive journey with an unknown destination, but it represents an adventure in the world of shapes, colors, and techniques.
In addition to a lifelong passion for art, the group members have deepened their expertise through various basic and advanced art studies. Some also work as visual arts teachers for children and young people.
The artist group belongs to the Akaa Visual Artists Association, founded in 1981, which is a member of the Finnish Art Associations Federation. The group has held annual exhibitions at the Akaa Laaksola Cultural Center and a celebratory exhibition at the Valkeakoski Myllysaari Museum in 2021.
