Tampere residents' panel

The City of Tampere is there for its residents. The city's activities and services can be improved by finding out what residents want and need. The panel is one way for the city to gather information and opinions from residents about various matters.

Panel members are sent a wide range of tasks on various topics. The topics are always related to the activities of the City of Tampere, such as sports and cultural services, public transport, or urban planning.

Some of the tasks are very short and some are a little longer, but all of them are easy to complete. Most tasks can be completed in less than ten minutes. 

The panel does not have remote or face-to-face meetings.

Tampere residents' panel mainly operates on its own website, where everyone completes tasks at a time that suits them. Occasionally, panel members may be invited to attend events held on site. Everyone can choose for themselves whether to attend.

When joining the panel, we ask you to provide some information in addition to your email address so that we can match you with the most suitable tasks:

•    year of birth
•    postal code of home address
•    gender
•    native language

We will also ask you about your interests and some information about your life situation.

You are warmly welcome to join, even if you feel that your Finnish language skills are not yet very good. The tasks are written in clear language that can be understood even if your language skills are not yet perfect.

In the autumn of 2025, the jury will also start working in English.

There is no payment for participating in the panel. However, small prizes may be drawn among the participants from time to time. 

The residents of Tampere have many ways to influence on the planning and developing the city and its services. Tampere residents' panel is just one of them. Tampere residents' panel offers an opportunity to participate to a growing number of people who want to influence matters digitally, at a time that suits them.

The panel members answer surveys and complete tasks on the website. To do this, an email address and a smartphone, tablet, or computer is needed. The device does not have to be your own – you can use a smartphone belonging to a friend or family member, for example, or computers available in libraries.

In addition to the Tampere residents' panel, there are many other opportunities to participate and influence in Tampere. You can join for example Tampere residents' evenings, various workshops, and other similar events even if you do not have a smartphone or computer.

This depends on the task. Sometimes members are asked to do a direct choice between different options, but sometimes tasks are wider and they are used as a background information for developing. The answers are used to bring together different views. 

All the views of the panel members will be taken into account as part of the planning in question. Other factors, such as the economic situation and legal requirements, will also influence the planning and development processes.

When you join the panel, you choose a nickname for yourself. In most tasks, your answers will only be seen by the panel administrators and will not be linked to individual respondents.

In some tasks, other panel members may also see your answers and username. This will always be explained in the task description. 

If you no longer wish to be a member of the panel, you can resign on the panel's website. The resignation link is also included in all emails you receive from the panel. You can also send an email to [email protected] and request to be removed from the panel.
